Nominating Directors
As outlined in Article 35.2 below, any Member can nominate a fellow Member to take a role on the Institute’s Council.
35.2. Any Member (including a Director) may nominate a Member to fill any vacancy in the Council, for a term of two years subject to the provisions of Article 36 (a ‘year’ in this context meaning from one AGM to the next).
As per Article 25.3, any nomination must have a proposer and a seconder, and have the consent of the Member being nominated. Whilst Article 25.2 requires the Institute to issue papers to enable Members to make a nomination, we confirm that a nomination can be submitted by email (to info@nimh.org.uk) giving the name of the proposer and seconder, and confirming that the nomination has the consent of the nominee, or using a nomination form. This must be done in writing at least six weeks before the AGM.
Once the nomination has been checked, the Office team will then contact the nominee for their supporting documentation as required. At this stage, we ask for a short statement from any nominee setting out why they wish to be elected, as well as a statement of any interests which Members should be aware of before voting.
While nominations must be received at least six weeks before the date of the AGM, they can be submitted at any point during the year.
