Face-to-Face consultations

Members Only

We have updated our guidance on face-to-face consultations for members in all UK nations as a result of changes to all devolved and central government restrictions.

SUMMARY OF THE UPDATES

As England, Scotland and Wales have now joined Northern Ireland in allowing consultations to include physical examinations (although not with immediate effect), we have updated our guidance to reflect this and ensure that the mitigations and safety measures we set out remain appropriate.

The guidance documents on our resource hub have been updated to the new versions, and links to these are included at the bottom of this update.

The focus of our guidance continues to be that wherever possible, face-to-face contact should be avoided. Where a remote consultation is not possible, our guidance should support you to see each patient as safely as possible. The guidance forms a framework to help you think about you, your practice, and each patient, and you should continue to use your professional judgement to consider whether it is safe to proceed.

We have created a set of questions that you may find useful to ask yourself if you are considering a consultation to physically examine a patient.
