Supporting our members when they need assistance is a role we take very seriously, and the impact of the events of this year has certainly been felt by every one of us.

We have become increasingly concerned about the longer-term effects that many of these challenges are continuing to have on the emotional, physical, mental and financial wellbeing of our members and their families.

Whilst producing our own guidance to help herbal practitioners to keep working safely throughout the pandemic has been an important part of our recent work, we know that sometimes other types of support may be needed over a wide variety of areas, not necessarily directly related to the current pandemic. These might include help with legal advice, employment matters, financial concerns, or maybe with issues raised by our own physical or mental health or that of someone else in our household.

When faced with a personal crisis, it can sometimes be difficult to think clearly or to know where best to turn to find the right help and advice. We also know that taking that first step to reach out for emotional or practical support can sometimes be difficult.

So we decided to do something about this by offering our members and their families a reliable source of practical help in times of difficulty.

Our free Member Assistance Programme (MAP) is provided by Health Assured, a leading specialist in personal support services. A single freephone phone call can put you in touch with their confidential support and guidance experts 24/7, 365 days of the year, so help is always there at a time which suits you.

This service is available completely free of charge to all of our members, whether practising, non-practising, retired, international or student, and may also be used by family members if they find themselves in need of some help (spouses, civil partners, partners and any legal dependant who lives in the same household, is in full time education and is under the age of 21 years).

We are absolutely delighted to be able to offer this service, and feel that it will provide some really practical help and support for our members whenever they are in need of it
