Since 2020, we have hosted our AGM online, driven initially by the restrictions during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Making the AGM as accessible as it can be, and maximising the inclusiveness of the Institute, is very important to us. Our 2022 AGM had the highest level of participation on record, suggesting that the reduced time commitments, lack of travel requirements and minimal cost of holding the AGM online is making a difference.

Following this year’s AGM, there was some feedback that Members could benefit from a return to in-person AGMs. As a result we would like to explore the preferences of the wider membership. With this in mind we’d like to share two potential routes that we could follow next May

  1. To continue with an online AGM, where we will livestream a video gathering, with your Council gathered on screen, and the opportunity to ask questions of them on topics through the agenda. This would be held on a Tuesday evening again, between 6 – 8pm UK time.
  2. To hold a half day, in-person session, somewhere with good transport links in central England, on a Saturday afternoon in May. This would include either a CPD session or talk, or perhaps networking and discussion time, followed by the formal AGM meeting, and then an optional member social. There would be no charge to attend the session, but travel and social costs would be the responsibility of the members.

We will not be able to arrange an AGM which suits every single one of our members, however we hope that getting your views on these two options will help ensure the arrangements reflect the consensus.
