Mentor Agreement with the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH)

This agreement outlines the terms, responsibilities, and ethical commitments between the Mentor and the NIMH for the delivery of structured mentoring support to an assigned mentee.

1. Purpose
To provide structured mentoring support, outlining the responsibilities and ethical commitments between the Mentor and the NIMH in delivering guidance to any assigned Mentee. The purpose is to ensure professional, emotionally attuned mentoring that fosters the growth of new herbalists in accordance with NIMH’s values and ethical standards.

2. Duration & Format
● The Mentor will deliver 4 to 6 mentoring sessions over an agreed time period to each mentee
● Each session will last between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the needs of the Mentee and mutual availability.
● Sessions may be conducted in person, online, or by phone.

3. Compensation
● The Mentor will receive an initial payment of £100 upon formal acceptance of a Mentee.
● A final payment of £150 will be issued upon completion of the mentoring cycle and submission of a reflective review completed by both Mentor and Mentee. Upon submission of your invoice, remittance will be processed and issued for each applicable occasion.

4. Ethical Commitment
The Mentor agrees to:
● Uphold the NIMH Code of Ethics at all times.
● Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
● Foster a safe and inclusive mentoring environment.
● Refrain from any disparaging remarks or actions toward the Institute, its members, or its work.

5. Safeguarding & Grievances
● Any safeguarding concerns, ethical breaches, or grievances must be reported to the Institute at the earliest possible opportunity.
● The Mentor agrees to cooperate fully with any review or resolution process initiated by the Institute.

6. Review & Closure
● A final reflective review will be completed collaboratively by both Mentor and each Mentee.
● The mentoring relationship may be concluded early by mutual agreement or in response to ethical or safeguarding concerns.

7. Independent Status of Mentor
The Mentor acknowledges and agrees that they are not an employee, servant, agent, partner, or joint-venture of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists at any time contemplated by this Agreement. The Mentor shall not represent their personal opinions, advice, or views as being those of the Institute. All mentoring support is provided in an independent, professional capacity.
