Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held online, using video conferencing platforms to conduct the meeting. This ensures that the AGM is accessible and has, to date, resulted in higher levels of membership engagement compared to when AGMs were held in person.Â
The AGM is your chance to tell us what matters to you and help shape the Institute’s work. Members can attend the AGM to share views on a range of subjects and vote on topics (members’ motions) that have been proposed in advance by Council or fellow members. You don’t need to attend the AGM in order to vote, however you will need to vote in advance to have your say.
The AGM is the legal instrument for managing the The National Institute of Medical Herbalists Ltd (the Institute), to comply with our responsibilities under company law. However, there are a number of other channels in place to facilitate the sharing of ideas and thoughts between the membership, Council and the Institute team. By opening up dialogue in a timely way, we can ensure that the Institute delivers for all of its members, and continues to drive the profession forward. For more information on these channels, please visit our Herbal Hub resource or contact us at info@nimh.org.uk.Â

We will always give Members as much notice as possible of each AGM, and it will be entered onto our Events listing as soon as dates are agreed.Â
Our Memorandum and Articles of Association set out some key timescales which must be observed during the lead up to each AGM.
N.B. For clarity ‘in the hands of the Secretary’ is met by submitting your motion to the Head Office team using the mechanism specified on the motions guide below within this timeframe.
Similarly, submission of the nomination to the Head Office team by the deadline will satisfy this requirement.
This deadline is for Council and Head Office, to ensure that Members have enough time to review the information before voting.
