Joining the Institute

How you can join us

Joining us as an individual

We have operated a voluntary register for professional medical herbalists since 1864, and are recognised across the world for our high professional standards.

As well as joining us as a Member, we have ways for you to become part of our amazing herbal community, whether you are studying herbalism, work with plants, or have a general interest in the power of plants.

AS A MEMBER

Qualified or practising herbalists are, subject to our entry criteria, able to become a Member of the Institute, and join the oldest and largest professional register of medical herbalists in the world. Whether you have qualified on an accredited course, or via a different route, we’d love to hear from you.

AS AN ASSOCIATE

The Associate category creates greater exposure and recognition for those who choose to work with medicinal plants. We hope that this will enable the sharing of knowledge across different parts of our community, and that it may inspire other plant and planet lovers to deepen their herbal knowledge.
